☀️All the Summer Writing News☀️

This year has been a publishing whirlwind so far. As we head into summer, I want to catch you up on where you can find my stories in the weeks ahead and what I’ll be working on poolside during the upcoming hot, sunny days.

Princess Moment

First, I want to share that WhiteCrown Publishing has added my royal short romance, “Spare in the Spotlight” to its Princess Moments collection. You can find it on the WhiteCrown website, along with the gorgeous cover shown above. (While you’re there, also check out “The Princess and the Gardener” by my friend, Elise Gilmore.)

Clean Fiction Column

Another exciting announcement is that I have joined the team at Clean Fiction as the serial romance columnist. My episodic story, “The Plus One Pact,” will kick off in the summer issue releasing June and continue in quarterly installments thereafter.

New Series of Mini-Collections

I have written a companion collection to Library Lovebirds, called Literary Lovebirds. I am still deciding on a release date, but I have committed to publishing it this summer. With this second collection, I’m officially kicking off the Lovebirds series, which will feature various themed collections of flash fiction romance, all with alliterative titles. Literary Lovebirds includes two stories reprinted from Micromance, and four brand-new stories.

Happy Birthday, Micromance!

June marks one year since Micromance Magazine first started accepting submissions. During the second week of June, Micromance will publish eight days of stories on the theme of “one year later.” My contribution, “The Anniversary Argument” stars Grace and Ted from The Bennetts Bloom a couple of years into the future. It publishes June 10th.

I also have some regular Micromance contributions publishing in the next month. On June 17th, look for a 100-word drabble inspired by a Jim Croce song, and the Fourth of July is the scheduled date for “Parade Route to Romance.”

Kissmet Quarterly

Micromance’s print publication, Kissmet Quarterly, will release its summer issue within the next month or so. It includes my later-in-life romance, “The Summer Camp Connection.”

Summer Projects

On Instagram, I’m hosting #FlashFictionFriends with three months of themed prompts. Check them out @katiefitzstories.

During June, I’m hoping to participate in Spark Flash Fiction’s Just Write June and in Write for Life’s Jotting Through June. I haven’t finalized what I’m working on yet, but the options are another 5,000 word story to self-publish, a Christmas story for Kissmet Quarterly, another Lovebirds collection, something to submit to Micromance, and/or a submission for Spark’s summer issue. I also really want to get back into the habit of submitting to Woman’s World.

Finally, I am putting the finishing touches on a series to publish here on Substack on how to write short clean romance. My best guess is that this will release in the fall.
